On Sept. 11, 2024, the Fifth Circuit ordered that the Eastern District of Texas pause its review of the Biden Keeping Families Together (parole-in-place) program until October 10, 2024, when the Fifth Circuit will review a motion to intervene.

On August 26, 2024, a judge in Texas issued a 14-day pause against the Biden Parole-in-Place program approving the applications. The Republican party filed the lawsuit, because apparently Republicans hate the idea of efficient government programs. This program is for eligible spouses and children to bypass unnecessary and cumbersome regulations that would otherwise require the immigrant beneficiaries to travel to a U.S. embassy or consulate abroad before obtaining permanent residence.
