On November 7, 2024, the Eastern District of Texas ruled that Keeping Families Together (Biden Parole-in-Place) exceeded DHS’s legal authority and cannot continue. In summary, the program is dead. DHS could appeal, but when Trump retakes office in January 2025, he would likely order DHS to withdraw the appeal.

On August 26, 2024, a judge in Texas issued a 14-day pause against the Biden Parole-in-Place program approving the applications. The Republican party filed the lawsuit, because apparently Republicans hate the idea of efficient government programs. This program is for eligible spouses and children to bypass unnecessary and cumbersome regulations that would otherwise require the immigrant beneficiaries to travel to a U.S. embassy or consulate abroad before obtaining permanent residence. Biden Parole Filing Guide - August 19, 2024
On August 16, 2024, USCIS published a filing guide for the Biden Parole-in-Place program that begins accepting applications on August 19, 2024. This program is for eligible spouses and children to bypass unnecessary and cumbersome regulations that would otherwise require the immigrant beneficiaries to travel to a U.S. embassy or consulate abroad before obtaining permanent residence.
